A measuring cell (1) for determining the activity of a beta radiation implant source (3) is in the form of a cylindrical wire. The measuring cell (1) has a hollow cylindrical shielding housing (16), which surrounds, without touching, a hollow cylindrical target (17) in which is located a guide tube (18). The target (17) is made of a conductive material, and the source is inserted into the guide tube. A current measuring device (2), which is connected to both the target (17) and source (3), measures the current generated in the target (17) by the beta source (3).
