HEAT-STABLE BETA-GLUCOSIDASE GENE, NEW RECOMBINANT DNA AND PRODUCTION OF HEAT-STABLE BETA-GLUCOSIDASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a large amount of a heat-stable β-glucosidase useful as a component of a clinical examination reagent storable at normal temperature in liquid state by separating a heat-stable β-glucosidase gene. SOLUTION: This heat-stable β-glucosidase has an amino acid sequence of the formula (some of the amino acids in the sequence may be added, depleted or substituted unless the activity of the heat-stable β-glucosidase is lost) and is producible by using Thermoanaerobacter cellulolyticus IFO 14436, etc., as a gene donor. A heat-stable β-glucosidase can be produced by culturing e.g. a transformant E.coli C600/pNC1 (FERM P-15785) produced by a recombinant DNA containing the gene.
