<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high conversion efficiency in any use by winding a prim. winding round only one core for use in a step down type converter and using two of cores for the prim. winding of an inverter transformer for use in a step up converter. SOLUTION: For use of the cold cathode lamp transformer in a discharge lamp lighting unit having a step down converter, only a core defined by the flange 2 of a bobbin and partition plate 3 is used for the prim. winding and remaining core is used for the a sec. winding. For use of the cold cathode lamp transformer in a discharge lamp lighting unit having a step up converter, the core defined by the flange 2 of a bobbin and partition plate 3 and core defined by partitions 3, 4 are used for the prim. winding to increase the number of windings at the prim. side and hence the prim. impedance of the transformer. Thus a high conversion efficiency is obtained for use in either the step up or step down converter.</p> |
