Supply of coolant to machine tool

A coolant adaptor (1) has an axial entry bore (2) on the machine tool side for the coolant fluid supply. The entry bore connects to a coaxial tool holder bore (3) at the front section of the adaptor. The tool is clamped in the bore using a lateral bore (5). Three exit channels (4) of a smaller diameter extend from the entry bore to a radial section at the end of the adaptor which is inclined to the rotational axis of the adaptor. The adaptor can be used with a tool having a through-coolant feed whereby the coolant passes directly through the bores to the tip. If the tool has no through-coolant facility, the coolant fluid is fed through the exit channels to the tip.
