<p>A method of modifying a base glass composition so as to change its properties in which molten glass is caused to flow in a stream unidirectionally through a substantially horizontal channel with the modifying material then being added thereto. The horizontal and vertical distribution of the modifying material in the glass stream are effected separately. The molten glass with the modifying material homogeneously distributed therein is then delivered to a forming facility.</p> |
