PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid injector for injecting liquid by the energy of an impulsive pressure wave which is generated in the liquid and is then propagated to its injection hole through the efficient utilization of the impulse wave while suppressing the clamping thereof to the utmost. SOLUTION: A liquid injector comprises a pressurized chamber 32 communicating with a liquid supply source, an injection hole 41 for injecting liquid therethrough, an injection passage 15a for leading liquid from the pressurized chamber 32 to the injection hole 41, and an impulsive high-pressure generating means 16 for applying impulsive pressure to the liquid in the pressurized chamber 32. A valve means 25 is disposed in the vicinity of the injection hole 41, which is adapted to open when an impulsive pressure has propagated thereto through the liquid in the injection passage 15a. The impulsive high-pressure generating means 16 applies impulsive pressure to liquid in the direction toward an opening 33 of the injection passage 15a at its end on the pressurized chamber side. The injection passage 15a is normally opened, and has its sectional, area larger than the area of the injection hole 41 through its whole length. |
