PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new substance containing a specific amino acid sequence, which is allowed to have amino acid variation(s) unless functions to promote the survival, proliferation and differentiation of monocytes and macrophages are impaired, to be used for preventing and treating rabbit diseases and for developing medicines for such diseases. SOLUTION: This substance is a new rabbit-type macrophage colony stimulant factor which contains the amino acid sequence covering No.1 to 221 amino acids in an amino acid sequence of the formula, and is allowed to have amino acid variation(s) i.e., the substitution, insertion, deletion and/or transformation of at least one amino acid unless functions to promote the survival, proliferation and differentiation of monocytes and macrophages are impaired. This factor is applicable to preventing, treating rabbit diseases and developing medicines for such diseases. This factor is obtained by a process wherein a mRNA is isolated from established rabbit corneal cells SIRC, a cDNA is then synthesized using the mRNA, and subjected to PCR using a primer coding the partial amino acid sequence of the macrophage colony stimulant factor, and the resultant gene is expressed. |
