PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing color filters capable of forming fine patterns of many colors having excellent flatness with good workability and high accuracy. SOLUTION: This process for producing the color filters forms the patterns of the multiple colors by repeating a step for sticking a base film and a photosensitive film having a colored photosensitive resin layer on a transparent substrate in such a manner that the colored photosensitive resin layer comes into contact with this substrate, then a step for exposing the colored photosensitive resin layer to prescribed patterns and a step for stripping the base film after the exposure and developing the resin layer. The multicolor patterns of the prescribed film thickness are formed by repeating the stage for forming the multicolor patterns by using the photosensitive film having the photosensitive resin layer of the film thickness smaller than the prescribed film thickness of the multicolor patterns in forming the multicolor patterns of the prescribed film thickness.
