PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large capacity transmission using bevel gears which operates with a high peripheral linear velocity and can cope with the high speed and large capacity requirements of a draining device. SOLUTION: This transmission concerned is used in a high depth underground draining device or the like, and is embodied in such a configuration that the power of a prime mover transmitted to an input shaft 1 is decelerated by a first stage gear train consisting of bevel gears while its direction is changed from the horizontal into vertical, further decelerated by a second stage bevel gear train and followings, and transmitted to a driven machine such as a pump through the output shaft 2. Slide bearings 20 and 21 are used as bearings belonging to the first stage gear train.
