PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently separate and recover a metal derived from metallic foil and the useful metal compds. in electrode materials by heating the waste materials coated and deposited with the metallic foil of the secondary batteries to a specific temp. in oxygen-contg. gaseous flow, thereby executing the combustion treatment thereof. SOLUTION: The waste materials coated and deposited with the metallic foil of the secondary batteries which are the metallic foil coated and deposited with the electrode materials contg. the metal compds. are heated to 300 to 600 deg.C, more preferably 350 to 500 deg.C in the oxygen-contg. gaseous flow, by which the waste materials are subjected to the combustion treatment. A gaseous mixture, etc., mixed with air, gaseous nitrogen and gaseous oxygen at adequate ratios are used as the oxygen-contg. gas used for the combustion treatment. If the waste materials coated and deposited with the metallic foil are scrap resulted from the use of lithium acid cobalt-salt-contg. positive pole materials, the lithium acid cobalt salt recovered by the combustion treatment is recyclable as a part or the whole of te raw material for production of the positive pole materials as it is. The intrusion of the metals derived from metallic foil, such as Al, into the recovered metal compds. derived from the electrode materials and more particularly in the cobalt compds. does not arise.
|
