The instrument incorporates a first plate (3) which is gripped by the patient between his teeth at one of a number of positions. A second plate (4), on which an angle measuring instrument is mounted, can be attached to the first plate with a ball joint. It can be set at various positions relative to the first plate to cover the spatial coordinates. Alternatively the second plate (4) can be mounted on the first plate at right angles to it. The patient can grip the instrument at various positions on both the first and second plate.
