A fine substance hold-back carrier, a suspension system for the same, a fine substance manipulating apparatus, and a method of controlling the position of a fine substance, which are used to carry out the examination of various kinds of object substances efficiently, inexpensively, easily and reliably. A carrier on the surface of which a remote control member capable of controlling the position of a fine substance by a remote operation and a fine substance including a substance to be examinated are supported, the carrier being formed so that the position of the object substance is controlled by a remote operation directed to the supported remote control member.
