<p>A group of wide range germicidal action disinfecting preparations for hospital and laboratory surfaces and medical equipment, each preparation comprising one or more bleaching agent in combination with at least one compound of fungicidal activity. The same preparations may be diluted for household use and they may be prepared as liquid solutions, aerosols, humidifiers in cleansing tissues, ointments with a suitable emulsifier or in dry powder formulation, on their own or in admixture with other disinfectants or as an addition to soaps or detergents. The bleaching agents to be employed in accordance with the invention have a general formula M - (O - X - Y)n where M is a Hydrogen atom or any Alkali or Alkaline earth group or transition metal or any Aliphatic or branched chain Carbon skeleton or any Alkyl, Alkenyl, Alkynyl, Acyl, Aracyl, Aryl, or Aralkyl or Carboxy group or any Alcohol, Aldehyde or Ozonide, optionally substituted with one or more heteroatoms such as Sulphur or Nitrogen or a Halogen; O is an Oxygen atom, X is chosen from an Oxygen atom or any Halogen atom or NO2 or any radical of similar chemical activity; and Y equals zero or Y is chosen from any of the elements or groups enumerated for M. Exemple 1: a solution of 7 % NaClO, 4 % 2,3,4,6-tetrachlorophenol and 2 % detergent in 87 % water, preferable use dilution 1:100, for hospital use as a highly effective wide range bleach and disinfectant. Example 2: a solution of 7 % NaClO, 4 % 2,3,4,6-tetrachlorophenol and 2 % detergent in 87 % water, preferable use dilution 1:300, for use in the household as an effective but gentle wide range bleach and disinfectant.</p> |
