A digital sound signal reproducing apparatus (10) which has a guide sprocket (11) around which an image film (1) is made to move, a guide roller (14) and a sound drum (13). The position of the sound drum (13) is changed and the number of members such as guide rollers is reduced. An optical reader (20) which reads and reproduces digital sound signals which are recorded on the digital sound signal recording part (5) of the image film (1) is provided on the sound drum (13). The guide sprocket (11) is provided near an image film supply entrance (10A) through which the image film (1) is supplied. The guide roller (14) is provided near an image film sending exit (10B) through which the image film (1) is sent out. Further, an image film transport regulator (30) which applies a transport load to the image film (1) supplied to the optical reader (20) is provided on the guide sprocket (11).
