摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a secondary battery keeping high capacity density, and a secondary battery. SOLUTION: A negative electrode consists of a carbon particle 21 comprising a core 211 of crystalline carbon and amorphous carbon layer 212 formed on the surface of part of the core 211 and a amorphous carbon matrix dispersing and holding the carbon particle 21. The carbon particle 21 is obtained by attaching carbon to the surface of a crystalline carbon particle, for forming the amorphous carbon layer, and a mixture of the carbon particle 21 and thermosetting resin is formed in an electrode shape, and the thermosetting resin is carbonized to form the amorphous carbon matrix 22. Since an active material consists of crystalline carbon and amorphous carbon, conductivity is enhanced and capacity is increased. Since the crystalline carbon core is sufficiently covered with amorphous carbon, direct contact of the crystalline carbon with an electrolyte is reduced, drop in charging efficiency caused by the decomposition of the electrolyte is prevented, the breakage of the carbon material is prevented, and high capacity density is kept.
