PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To respond to a request from a network by providing a server for controlling the operation of a peripheral device corresponding to a request formatted as a hyper text transfer protocol(http) document request. SOLUTION: As a web server, the peripheral device communicates with a network 203 and processes the http request. A peripheral device 200 has a web server 202 but it is not necessary for the server to be a perfect http server. For example, the peripheral device 200 is provided with the communication port of a radio modem or the like. The peripheral device 200 can use one or more communication mechanisms. The peripheral device 200 can be provided with a software/hardware for communication with a wide area network such as a telephone interface to use an RJ-11 jack. In an on-state, the peripheral device 200 tries the communication with the other sector of the network. When the communication with the network is realized, the peripheral device 200 registers that this communication is made active.
