PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefin block copolymer which is excellent in heat resistance, impact resistance and processability and can effectively improve the properties of polypropylene when added thereto and a process for producing the same. SOLUTION: This copolymer is prepared by separately block-copolymerizing a polypropylene component and an ethylene/α-olefin (4-18C) random copolymer component and having the following properties (I) to (III); (I) the amount of the polypropylene component having an intrinsic viscosity [η] of 0.5-5.0dl/g is 5-50wt.%; (II) the amount of the ethylene/α-olefin random copolymer component having anα-olefin content of 5-40mol% and aρvalue in the range of 0.5-1.5 whereinρ=2[E].[A]/[EA] (wherein [E] and [A] are the molar fractions of the ethylene and theα-olefin, respectively, and [EA] is the molar fraction of diad chains of ethylene and theα-olefin)}; and (III) the intrinsic viscosity [η]of the block copolymer is 0.5-5.0dl/g as measured in tetralin at 135 deg.C.
