PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overhead transmission line such that snow clinging to wire is unlikely to grow. SOLUTION: A number of element wires constituting a cable are bound parallel to one another, in such a way that two or more kinds of element wires with different specific gravity are placed in mutually deviating positions so that the center of gravity is off the center of the cable. The numerous element wires constituting the cable are thus bound parallel to one another to prevent snow clinging to the cable from going downward along the twist of the cable, and since the center of gravity is not located at the center of the cable, even if snow clings to the top of the cable, it does not immediately cause rotation of the cable, and the growth of the snow can be restrained. In the case of a combination of light element wires 11 and heavy element wires 12, a cable comprising the group of lightweight element wires 11 and the group of heavy element wires 21 connected in parallel may be provided. Also, the light element wire may be hollowed out to further increase its difference of specific gravity with the heavy element wire. The cross-sectional shape of the cable may be noncircular, e.g. triangular or in the form of a trapezoid with a long base, to bias the center of gravity.
|
