PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent movement of silicon ions produced inside an electrolyte layer to a fuel electrode and provide excellent characteristics for a long time by arranging a control means to control the water vapor partial pressure of an oxidizing agent gas and/or a fuel gas supplied to a fuel cell. SOLUTION: A fuel gas produced from a petroleum gas or a natural gas and an oxidizing agent gas such as air are supplied to a fuel cell main body 6. The fuel gas produced from a raw material such as the petroleum gas or the natural gas is reformed in hydrogen - rich gas after impurities such as sulfur contained in the raw material are removed in a fuel processing line 7, then by adding water vapor. In the case that the control of the temperature and humidity of the reformed gas is required, excess heat or water vapor is recovered and controlled with a heat exchanger 8 so as to advance adequate cell reaction in the fuel cell main body 6. Air is processed to adequate oxidizing agent gas in an air processing line 12, and supplied to the fuel cell main body 6. The deposition of phosphates on the surface of a gas diffusion electrode is prevented, and excellent characteristics are kept for a long time. |
