Friction clutch with damped pressure plate

The clutch (1) comprises a housing with a rotatable counter pressure plate (6), a pressure plate is rotatably fixed within the housing and has a limited freedom of movability between the housing and the counter pressure plate in the direction of the axis. At least one clutch spring inwardly reacts against the housing and is arranged to bias the pressure plate axially towards the counter pressure plate to clamp a rotary clutch disc between the plates in the engaged condition of the clutch. A diaphragm spring (4) with resilient portions is used for engaging and disengaging the clutch. The disc may have friction linings that are contacted by the plates in the engaged condition of the clutch and is subject to wear in response to repeated engagement of the clutch.
