Liquid crystal display consists of a nematic liquid crystal composition with positive dielectric anisotropy, which is sealed between 2 substrates, each with a transparent electrode and an orientation film on the electrodes, and a polariser outside < 1 of the substrates. The crossing angle between the orientation directions of the films is 80-300 deg . The device is operated at a low frequency of <= 200 (polarity inversions per second). The 50% threshold voltage is <= 1,5 V. The orientation films consist of a polymer containing fluorine (F).
