As the powder raw material for the porous alumina preform 51 , the powdery mixture of inexpensive calcined alumina powder 7 in which the average particle diameter d1 is regulated to 20<=d1 <=200μm and pulverized alumina powder 8 in which the average particle diameter d2 is regulated to 0.5<=d2 <=10μm is used.
