An electric fuel pump assembly (10) for a motor vehicle has a fuel pick-up filter (12) in the form of an elastic plastics cup (17) with a strainer mesh (20) embedded in its base (18). It fits around the pump body (13), and has a continuous lip or several protrusions (32) which clip over a ridge (16) around the pump body.One or more continuous ridges (X) inside the lower third of the filter housing provides a fuel seal against the pump body.
