The apparatus is intended for three-dimensional transfer of workpieces in and/or between presses with two horizontal parallel carrier beams (1, 1') oriented in the transfer direction (T). Each carrier beam is provided with guideways (2, 2') for a slide (4, 4') for known gripper elements movable parallel to the transfer direction. The slide (4, 4') is joined to a servomotor (9, 9') via a transmission system including a toothed belt (7, 7') and a spline shaft (8, 8'). This servomotor is located within a cross slide (10, 10') joined to the carrier beams (1, 1'), and is mounted on the slide of a lifter unit (19, 19'). The cross slide (10, 10') joined to a further servomotor (15, 15') via a transmission system including a toothed belt (13, 13') and a spline shaft (14, 14). This servomotor is located within a further cross slide (23, 23') and is mounted on the slide of a lifter unit (24, 24'). The carrier beams (1, 1') are provided with bearing points (17) for the rotating element of the toothed belts.
