The band saw consists of a base frame containing a number of individual elements (11-13) of sheet material combined to form a one-piece body to accommodate spaced apart rotating wheels (14,15) which guide and drive the saw blade (6). Sealing covers formed symmetrical to the sections (11,12) accommodating the corresponding rotating wheel are hinged on the frame, and these sections are interconnected by a bridge (13).
