PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate component regulation and also to perform accurate graphite spheroidization in high yield by using, at the time of refining spheroidal graphite cast iron, an inoculant prepared by incorporating sulfur and magnesium, and further, if necessary, rare earth element into a master alloy. SOLUTION: A compound of sulfur and graphite spheroidizing element is incorporated into a master alloy for inoculation, that is, a magnesium compound combined with sulfur, a compound of rare earth element combined with sulfur, or a compound of sulfur, magnesium and rare earth element is incorporated into the master alloy. Moreover, as the rare earth element at this time, one orι2 kinds among lanthanoide series rare earth elements are used. These master alloys for inoculation can be added also at the time of cast iron melting and are not accompanied by excessive slag formation, and as a result, safety as well as work environment can be improved.
