PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an gas oil additive, comprising a compound having a specified group in a molecule and simultaneously satisfying both functions of preventing an abrasion of a fuel injection pump when using a low-sulfur gas oil, and cleaning soil in a fuel injection nozzle when using a diesel engine. SOLUTION: This gas oil additive comprises a compound having a 10-22C hydrocarbon group, three or more OH groups and an amino group in a molecule e.g. the compound having a 10-22C hydrocarbon group and three or more OH group existing on a carbon inβ-position of the same nitrogen atom in the molecule and exemplified concretely by formula I [R1 is a 10-20C (branched) alkyl, a 10-22C (branched)alkenyl, a 10-22C aralkyl], formula II (R2 is equal to the R1 ) or formula III (R3 is equal to the R1 ). For example, the additive of 0.001 to 1 wt.pts. is used for 100 wt.pts. of the gas oil having sulfur contents <=0.2%.
