The handle (1) is attached to the wall (2) of the cooking pan (5) by a stamped sheet metal piece (6) fixed to the wall. The piece has an outwards projecting central part (11) which defines a cavity (12) with the pan wall. This projecting part is surrounded by an external part (13) whose surface fits the curved profile of the wall. The lateral surface of the projecting part is shaped to fit in the internal surface of a mounting (10) engaged on the end of the handle and inserted between it and the wall. The piece has an opening (7), having a smooth internal surface, into which a self tapping screw (8) is screwed. The screw is engaged in an elongated opening (9) in the end of the handle. The opening in the front surface of the projecting part is extended outwards by a projecting collar.
