发明名称 Dna sequence that codes for a phosphoenolpyruvate-phosphate translocator, plasmides, bacteria, yeast and plants containing said transporter
摘要 A DNA sequence from Brassica oleracea var. botrytis (cauliflower) is disclosed which contains the coding region of a phosphoenolpyruvate-phosphate transporter whose insertion into a plant genome modifies the formation and transmission of carbon basic structures for the synthesis of phenolic compounds in transgenic plants. Also disclosed are plasmides, yeast and bacteria which contain said DNA sequence, as well as transgenic plants in which changes in the activity of the phosphoenolpyruvate-phosphate transporter and thereby changes in the content of phenolic compounds, above all aromatic amino acids and flavonoids, are caused by the insertion of the DNA sequence. Also disclosed are transgenic plants whose defence response against plant pathogenic agents and UV radiation tolerance are influenced by increasing their content of phenolic compounds, the use of the disclosed sequence of the phosphoenolpyruvate-phosphate translocator to identify related translocators from other plants by low stringency hybridisation or PCR techniques, and the use of the phosphoenolpyruvate-phosphate translocator as target for herbicides.
