Controlling amplifying factor of aerial amplifier

The method involves operating an aerial amplifier (3) which is fitted remotely from a radio receiver (6) and is coupled to the receiver via an aerial cable (5). The control signal for the aerial amplifier is derived from a signal generated in the radio receiver, dependent on the field strength and/or the aerial signal spectrum of the signal supplied to the radio receiver. Preferably a signal, already generated in the radio receiver for amplification control, is used as the control signal. The aerial amplifier may have one or several control diodes (11), for receiving the control signal.
