PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate excellent in polarizing characteristics, excellent also in durability at high temp. and humidity and having various functions. SOLUTION: This polarizing plate consists of a functional layer, a protective layer, a polarizing film and a protective layer laminated in order. The polarizing film is a PVA-base polarizing film satisfying the inequality (b1 /a1 )/(b0 /a0 )>0.7 when spectral intensities of the film at 1-5cm<-1> and 157cm<-1> at the time of irradiation with Ar<+> laser light having 514.5nm excitation wavelength by a Raman spectroscopic method after the film is allowed to stand for 200hr in an atmosphere at 80 deg.C and 90% RH are represented by a1 and b1 , respectively, and such spectral intensities before the film is allowed to stand are represented by a0 and b0 , respectively. |
