PURPOSE:To obtain the subject molded body excellent in transparency, mechanical strength and electrical characteristics with a high elastic modulus by blending respective specific styrene-based polymer with polyphenylene ether in a specified proportion, thermally melting the resultant blend, cooling and hot- drawing the melt at respective specific temperatures. CONSTITUTION:The objective molded body, obtained by thermally melting a composition consisting essentially of (A) 10-98wt.% styrene-based polymer (preferably polystyrene, etc.) mainly having a syndiotactic structure and (B) 90-2wt.% polyphenylene ether [preferably (2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene)ether] with >=0.28dl/g intrinsic viscosity in chloroform at 30 deg.C, cooling the resultant melt to a temperature below the glass transition temperature of the afore- mentioned composition, then hot-drawing the cooled composition at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the above-mentioned composition and below the melting point thereof (preferably >=1.5 times in uniaxial drawing or respective >=1.2 times in the longitudinal and transverse directions in biaxial drawing) and suitable as films for flexible printed boards, etc. |
