The radar system comprises a transmitter (1) supplying transitory electromagnetic pulses to an omni-directional aerial (2) which has a quasi-periodic structure. Angular measurement is achieved using two omni-directional reception aerials (3,4) and a circuit (5) which measures the time interval between the reception of the pulses on the two aerials. By measurement of the time interval it is possible to deduce the angle (theta) from which the radar signal is received. The measurement circuit includes components to recombine the signals received on the two aerials. Within the combined signal it is then possible to determine the time delay and, by use of a transcoding device, the angular direction may be derived.
