PRODUCTION OF ACTIVATED CARBON ARTICLE AND USE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an activated carbon article whose adsorption capacity is increased from a synthetic polymer carbon precursor. SOLUTION: An inorganic base substance is prepared. Then, a synthetic polymer carbon precursor and an adsorption increasing additive selected from the group consisting of oil which is immiscible and nonreactive with sulfur and the carbon precursor and combination thereof are prepared. The inorganic base substance is brought into contact with the carbon precursor and the adsorption increasing additive and the base substance is covered with the carbon precursor and the adsorption increasing additive. The carbon precursor is cured and the cured carbon precursor is carbonized and activated. Coating of activated carbon is formed on the base substance to form an activated carbon article.
