PRODUCTION OF CAST PAPER AND CAST PAPER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing cast paper capable of producing cast paper having desired surface pattern or finished cast paper and obtain cast paper. SOLUTION: A polymer coating of a web 1 to which a polymer coating is applied is heated to a temperature enough to melt the polymer and a polymer coating is cooled in a cooling process so that the polymer coating material becomes from melted state to a solid state when the web is passed through a nip formed between an embossing roll 3 and a packing roll 4. Thereby, surface shape of the embossing roll 3 is transferred onto a polymer-coated web 1 to produce cast paper having the desired surface pattern or finished cast paper. The polymer is preferably a polyolefin, e.g. poly(4 methyl-1-pentene) or a mixture of polypropylene with polyethylene. The rear coating for preventing the warping is preferably applied, e.g. using polyvinyl alcohol after emboss treatment.
