Measurement of tension in strings of tennis, squash or badminton racket

The method involves a tester (3) with a pressure plate (4) on the end of a plunger (8) attached to the racket with a leaf spring (5). The tension in the strings (11) is transmitted through a lever (7) to a sliding resistor (6). The resistance is evaluated by an electronic circuit and shown on a display (9) giving the tension expressed in newtons or other units. The sliding resistor may be replaced by a rack-and-pinion-driven rotary potentiometer.
