The support system is for shells for bathtubs or standing areas for showers. There may be walls surrounding the bathtub, extending along the sides (4) and at the front (2) and at the back (3). The walls may be made of thin sheet metal or plastics and may be vertical or may slope inwards or outwards. The bathtub may be supported on a foundation block (1) which may rest on the floor or some suitable support and may accommodate legs fixed on the underside of the bathtub.
