The compact discs (10) are stacked (9) on a spindle (7), which protrudes from a base (6), during the final stage of production. The spindle (7) is a high precision item, which too expensive to be used for storage and transportation. It is therefore displaced by another transport spindle (4) which is pushed down through the stack. The transport spindle (4) has a recess in its point (5), which fits on the top of the manufacturing spindle (7). The transport spindle (4) has a flange (2) with a nameplate (31) on the edge (3). After transfer to the rectangular cartons, the cartons are stacked on a pallet for transport.
