PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound retaining both stable coloring and discoloring property, adaptable to the wide range of use and environmental conditions, and useful as a developer for reversible thermal recording materials. SOLUTION: This compound is N-(4-hydroxyphenylcarbonyl)-N'-n-octadecyl urea of formula I and e.g. obtained almost stochiometrically by mixing, then reacting equimolar hydroxybenzamide of formula II with n-octadecylisocyanate of formula III. A reversible thermal recording medium which use the subject compound, is constituted by setting a recording layer consisting mainly of this compound as developer and coloring agent on base material such as paper or resin film. |
