The electric-arc furnace incorporates vessels (1, 2) closable by means of a pivotable furnace lids (4, 5), one or more electrodes (3) on a pivot mechanism (8), or a bottom electrode located in the furnace hearth. The vessel (1) is provided with an off-centre bottom tap (15) in the furnace hearth, while the vessel (2) has a tap trough (16) outside the furnace hearth.
