PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of an erroneous copy due to the improper setting of a transfer paper sheet by indicating the setting, direction and position of the transfer paper sheet for confirmation at the time of forming an image on the second side thereof at a manual double sided copying process. SOLUTION: A system control unit 8 detects the size, the feed direction or the like of a transfer paper sheet with an image copied on the first side, on the basis of the result of detection with a paper sheet size detection unit 80 and the result of the detection is registered with a memory. Furthermore, the system control unit 8 identifies a paper sheet feed direction or the like on the basis of data or the like registered with the memory, and a manual reverse side copying operation screen necessary for forming an image on the second side is shown on a display.
