PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save the trouble of stopping shooting balls for the purpose of avoiding starting scoring from becoming invalid by making the start of a starting play invalid if a predetermined requirement is met, and associating invalidated entrance of a ball into a starting slot with the control of providing an additional function other than that of starting the starting play. SOLUTION: A special-symbol variable-display play (starting play) is effected in accordance with the entrance of a game ball into a normal fluctuating scoring device 5, and even if a special playing condition can be started based on the result of the starting play and a ball has entered a special-symbol scoring slot, the start of the special-symbol variable-display play is invalidated as the stored number of special-symbol starting scoring balls has reached a predetermined number. The invalidated entrance of the ball into the special-symbol starting slot is associated with the control of providing an additional function (normal- symbol short-period game) other than that of starting the special-symbol variable-display play. Thus the player's dissatisfaction with the invalidation of the special-symbol starting scoring can be eased, and the trouble of stopping shooting balls can be saved. |
