The zone switching method between radio private exchanges is capable of maintaining a speeching state, even through a portable device during conversation within zone of a predetermined radio private exchange is moved to the zone of other radio private exchange. The zone switching method comprises the steps of: if the portable device is moved to the zone of a fixed device involved within a second system controller from the zone of a fixed device within a first system controller, sending a zone switching request message; transmitting the zone switching request message to the first and second system controllers sides; comparing the messages to select the fixed device having relative good field strength; transmitting zone switching request information to the first system controller; and if the field strength of the second system controller is higher than that of the first system controller, transmitting a zone switching response message to the second system controller and connecting a speech path to the second system controller, to thereby maintain a speeching state with the portable device.
