摘要 <p>A sample comprising suspended particles is filled into a cuvette (10) having a plane baseplate, then the sample is settled. The sediment is optically examined from below. For accomplishing said method an apparatus is provided. The apparatus comprises a conveyor (17), a sample doser (20) for filling samples into cuvettes, a cuvette feeder (16) for placing said cuvettes onto said conveyor, a moving mechanism forwarding the cuvettes (10) along said conveyor (17) and a centrifuge (40) for sedimentation particles suspended in said samples. The cuvettes (10) have planar and resilient baseplates (12), and a covering plate (11) is attached through a frame of uniform thickness to the baseplate. Along said conveyor, downstream of said centrifuge (40) one or more optical units (50, 60) are arranged, said optical units (50, 60) comprising a horizontally positioned object platform for supporting said cuvettes (10) with their baseplate (12) oriented horizontally, and a microscope objective (57) located beneath said object platform (59). This structure allows sediment of a sample to be examined right after centrifugation while the sample is still in the cuvette (10).</p>
