An oven includes an oven liner partially defining a cooking cavity having a bottom wall. The oven liner has a bottom wall which together with a glass-ceramic panel forms the bottom wall of the cooking cavity. The bottom wall of the oven liner has a bowl-shaped depression forming bottom and lateral sides of a chamber. The glass-ceramic panel covers the depression and defines a top wall of the chamber. The bottom wall of the oven liner forms a recessed seat for the glass-ceramic panel around a periphery of the depression such that a top surface of the bottom wall of the cooking cavity is smooth. A periphery of the glass-ceramic panel is sealed with a high temperature sealant to prevent leakage of spills from the cooking cavity to the chamber. A heating element is provided within the chamber to heat the cooking cavity. In an alternative embodiment, the oven includes a tray received within an enlarged bottom portion of the oven liner and supported by the bottom wall of the oven liner. The tray together with the glass-ceramic panel forms the bottom wall of the cooking cavity and forms the bowl-shaped depression and recessed seat.
