PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a release film useful for a protective film of coating carrier film or aqueous self-adhesive film of aqueous self-adhesive solution, aqueous resin solution or aqueous ceramic slurry. SOLUTION: The release film comprises a release layer obtained by coating at least one side surface of a polyester film with compound represented by Si(CH3 )n (NCO)4-n (where n is integer of 1 to 3) and compound represented by Si(NCO)4 , heating to cure it, wherein the maximum surface tension (γLmax) of the layer is 30 to 50dyne/cm.
