Described are hair-treatment agents containing a non-ionogenic polymer with units of formula (I), in which X is hydrogen, a straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl group with 1 to 22 carbon atoms or an alkenyl group, insaturated one or several times and with 2 to 22 carbon atoms, in combination with at least one other active substance selected from the following: a group (A) comprising the aminoacids, oligopeptides and polypeptides and their derivatives and/or a group (B) comprising the carbohydrates and/or a group (C) comprising panthenol and non-ionogenic and cationic derivatives of panthenol, with the provision that, when the agent does not contain any active substances from group B or C, the active substance from group A is not a hydrolysed protein of collagen or keratin, but is only an aminoacid chosen from glutamic acid, aspartic acid and valine. Such hair-treatment agents have a number of useful properties. Thus undesirable effects of the environment and hair treatments on the hair are reduced and the appearance of the hair improved.
