An interpolation unit decimates the picture data in the ratio of 3:2 and the input signals (26) with numbers 1 to 21 in succession are read with beat signals (25) into a filtering circuit, producing the output signals (28). The matrix (27) illustrates these operations. The output signals, in beat form, corresponds to the beat signals (33) and these are produced by the circuit in figure (4). The input data are fed to the interface (38) on the data line (35) and then to the input memory (39) by means of beat signals through the beat line (36), passing to the filtering circuit (40) by beat signals of a first frequency from the generator (37), the values can be read from the circuit into the output memory (41) by beat signals of a second frequency from the AND gate (44).
