PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and inexpensive mobile object counter. SOLUTION: An interleave switch 3 interleaves image data of a prescribed line from frame image data obtained by photographing a mobile object monitoring area with a CCD camera 1 and the line image data obtained at prescribed time interval are stored in a line memory 4. A mobile object block is extracted from the line image data to obtain the position coordinates within the mobile object block and number of mobile objects in each mobile block is obtained from the position coordinates and the position coordinate data and the mobile object number data are stored in a data memory 5, the mobile body is cross-referenced between two line image data by using the position coordinate data of each mobile block in the two line image data sampled consecutively and the mobile object number data, number of the mobile objects not cross- referenced is counted as number of passing mobile objects and it is stored in the data memory 5 and outputted from a CPU 6. |
