PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color filter having little moisture absorption and stable characteristics of the film surface at a low cost by forming a color layer prepared by dispersing an inorg. pigment in a transparent metal compd. on a transparent substrate. SOLUTION: A color layer 2 comprising a transparent metal compd. film with dispersion of inorg. pigment particles 3 is formed on a substrate 1 on which a light-shielding layer 4 is preliminarily formed. In order to form red, green and blue color layers 2, such a method that a resist prepared by mixing a metal having a low melting point and an inorg. pigment is applied by printing to form a film and then the film is baked, or a sputtering method by using plural targets is used. As for the transparent metal compd., SiO2 Al2 O3 , TiO2 , SnO3 , etc., can be used. To obtain a substrate having a red, green and blue pattern to be used for a LCD display device, for example, a patterned mask is used and an inorg. pigment for each red, green and blue color is used to form a film. |
